Montblanc Masterpiece Classique
The 144 fountain pen is the original Classique fountain pen, which was produced until the end of the 90s. It was replaced by the current Classique fountain pen (then Chopin M145) with the Ident. No. 106514.
Fountain pen (M144) and rollerball (M163) from the Classique series used mostly the same barrel. When closed, the fountain pen could not be distinguished from the rollerball. Montblanc then made the successor slightly larger. Probably the biggest difference: Montblanc updated the Classique fountain pen with a screw cap and the push cap was only used on the rollerball. The golden nib ring was also dropped and new piston converters were designed.
